REMEMBER OCT 1st 2023 – we are launching what we have been seeking for for 40 years.
There will be an open water baptism as we believe we have finally come to the place worthy of promotion.
So, we left off at Genesis 49:2 where we read where Jacob, after having blessed Joseph’s two sons, says to the rest of the boys
2 Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel your father.
Remember that Jacob is telling them what will happen to their specific lines in the Last Days, which I submit will be the days when the Ravishes of the Roman Empire would destroy the Nation of Israel once and for all..
I mentioned a few weeks back about the grand untruth that has existed in the faith for quite some time that says that there were ten lost tribes.
Many people repeat this today without knowledge because that is what has always been taught and they speak of it as if it was and remains a fact.
How, I can’t say when people from different tribes outside of Judah and Benjamin are mentioned in Israel in the Apostolic Record and James dedicates his epistle to the Twelve Tribes without any qualifications – but that is for another day in terms of proof.
From our perspective the reality is the tribes were not lost at all but the tribes were represented in Israel during and after the life of Christ, and these tribes would, apparently, respond in one way or another to what Jacob is going to prophesy about now.
Because the tribe males were commanded by law to come to Jerusalem annually, and the city was filled with visitors when the Roman siege took place, we maintain that this was the fulfillment of them being gathered together (which most Christians belief is an event we are still waiting for) and then they were wiped out or disseminated into the world through a diaspora.
Before we read what Israel says about the state of His twelves sons offspring in the last days we must address the question of “do the sins of the fathers carry forward to future generations” as Jacob, at least relative to his sons, seems to suggest?
By turning to Exodus 20:2 we read YAHAVAH reference this sins of the father idea when he says to the Nation
2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
From this a number of other references we have a biblical precedent. What is it?
This context speaks relative to idolatry. And what is specifically mentioned is God saying he will visit iniquity on the third and fourth generations OF THEM THAT HATE HIM and then he adds:
6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
In no way do I believe that YAHVAHA holds the offspring of a fathe, grandfather, great grandfather or great great grandfather.
Anyone who chooses to love YAHAVAH over the idols of the world He will show mercy irrespective of where they are in the progeny of their idolatrous family.
That said, there does remain some factors that cannot be denied when it comes to our actions and choices as individuals today (and even back then) and our offspring.
These factors speak to the reality of how forefathers and mothers can change the environment, influences, even the genetics of future generations by and through their expressions of idolatry.
Back in the day and in Jacobs time, it seems that these influential factors had a tendency to effect future generations – and I base this on the blessings (so to speak) that Israel gives here.
But when we think about it, our choices today have the ability to predicate at least some of the circumstances future generations face – and we understand this better today than they did in biblical times due to genetics.
But even spiritually, when a set of parents choose to abandon the devout worship of God and turn to the world, idols or atheism, there is the chance that their children will follow suit. And then their childrens children, and on down the line.
Free will is not lost, but propensities are increased or diminished by the acts of the parents by and through environments upheld.
I suggest that one of the greatest acts of love a set of parents can do not only for their family but for the world is to turn from idolatry in all of its forms (meaning never allowing their children to observe them making something of this world their God) and showing their children what real faith and real love looks like so they have at least a template to operate by.
Good choices of parents, however, no more ensures good choices of children anymore than bad choices ENSURES or makes absolute the fact that children will also make bad choices.
And herein seems to be the difference between what Israel is saying here and what we face today:
Israel was prophesying of the destiny of the Twelves sons families and offspring. Not all of each of the tribes to come were destined to be what Jacob says, but for that Nation then, it seems like Israel is proclaiming the end results which in some ways point back to the choices of His Sons.
Due to the victory of Yeshua over the world, I maintain today that every single person in the world is constantly offered solutions to the sins of their parents – the question becomes, “Who wants to receive it?”
Can alcoholic grandparents who take their family into abusive poverty set an ugly stage for their family and future family. Of course – financially, culturally, emotionally, psychologically, even genetically.
But the power of the Spirit can, and will, override all things if an individual desires it – and in this way, all of us are responsible for the lives we embrace and create. This is my world view on matters and I could be wrong
I really believe this. Mitigating factors included and observed, the fact that our forefathers chose one way to live in no way destroys the opportunities for those who come into the world later through their line.
Those choices might make change harder (thank God for His grace) or they might ever make the changes easier, but there is always a choice unless the individual is genetically or physically damaged.
I maintain that in most cases, there exists what scientists call neural plasticity which is a phrase that says our minds have the ability to establish new way and can reinvent itself by creating new pathways to operated by.
I maintain that the ultimate roadbuilder we can turn to is God, who will step in and rebuild us from the mind out if we want Him to.
Interestingly, what we see as good choices here on earth have the POTENTIAL to blind our future family from ever wanting to find the truth!
In other words the offspring off the Rockafeller or Kennedy family might have a HARDER time desiring Gods reworking our minds than the offspring of social reprobates!
TO me we need to be careful in placing blame or judging others and try and remember, wherever we come from, we all have obstacles to faith but God calls accordingly leaving every person responsible before Him for the choices they make.
Okay, so let’s read the prophetic blessings Israel places on his sons. As stated last week, I am not going to try and provide a historical review of each tribe from the Bible but am just going to focus on the tribes that will greatly contribute to the fulfillment of YAHAVAH’s work in the world.
Here we go.
Genesis 49.3-end
September 17th 2023
Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel –
Reuban
instruments of cruelty are in their habitations. Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.
Simeon and Levi
8 Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father’s children shall bow down before thee.
9 Judah is a lion’s whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?
10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.
11 Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass’s colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes:
12 His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth white with milk.
Judah
13 Zebulun shall dwell at the haven of the sea; and he shall be for an haven of ships; and his border shall be unto Zidon.
Zebulun
14 Issachar is a strong ass couching down between two burdens:
15 And he saw that rest was good, and the land that it was pleasant; and bowed his shoulder to bear, and became a servant unto tribute.
Issachar
16 Dan shall judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel.
17 Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that biteth the horse heels, so that his rider shall fall backward.
Dan
18 I have waited for thy salvation, O LORD.
19 Gad, a troop shall overcome him: but he shall overcome at the last.
Gad
20 Out of Asher his bread shall be fat, and he shall yield royal dainties.
Asher
21 Naphtali is a hind let loose: he giveth goodly words.
Naphtali
22 Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall:
The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him:
But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob;
Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb:
The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren.
Joseph
Benjamin shall ravin as a wolf: in the morning he shall devour the prey, and at night he shall divide the spoil.
Benjamin
3 Reuben, thou art my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power:
(so he starts off telling Reuban that he had it all from birth. However, he adds)
4 Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father’s bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch.
According to Deuteronomy 21:17, Reuben, as the first-born, had a right to a double portion of all that the father had and it seems that this is what Jacob is speaking to in verse 3 before he goes on to verse 4.
There is speculation all over the place what this power was pertaining to “birthright,” “priesthood” and “Kingdom.”
But because Reuban was unstable as water those three specific honors would be given to others – with birthright to given Joseph, the kingdom to Judah and the priesthood to Levi.
4 Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father’s bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch.
The fact that the birthright was given to Joseph through His Sons cannot be denied as we read in 1st Chronicles 5:1
Now the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel, (for he was the firstborn; but, forasmuch as he defiled his father’s bed, his birthright was given unto the sons of Joseph the son of Israel: and the genealogy is not to be reckoned after the birthright.
That Judah would bring the Kingdom of God to earth is supported by the second verse of the same chapter as it says
1Ch 5:2 For Judah prevailed above his brethren, and of him came the chief ruler; but the birthright was Joseph’s:
And that Levi was the bearer of the priesthood is repeatedly made known throughout the text.
Reuben’s tribe never rose to any eminence in Israel and was about 1/3rd of the size of Judah, Joseph, or even Dan when Moses takes a census in Numbers 1:21.
(Verse 5-7)
5 Simeon and Levi are brethren; instruments of cruelty are in their habitations.
6 O my soul, come not thou into their secret; unto their assembly, mine honor, be not thou united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their selfwill they digged down a wall.
7 Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.
We recall when these two brothers, out to restore the honor of Dinah their sister, set Shechem up and wiped them out. I simple want to point out the line where it says, “I will divide them in Jacob and scatter them in Israel,” which was literally true of them in the promised land and would be true of them in the last days.
Verse 8-12
Jumping back to verse 8 we see that the prophesy begins with the name Judah – whose land would be in the Southern Kingdom and before during and after the Assyrian captivity of the Northern Tribes, many tribal members from the other brothers lines came to Judah and assumed their name in the word, Jews.
As the name Judah means praise, Jacob shows that this tribe should be so eminent and glorious, that the rest of the tribes should praise it and even take up the general title of Jew in the face of it.
Leah was Judah’s mother and he was given his name in Genesis 29:35. The name was associated with war and we read how Judah was the most warlike laying hands on the necks of his enemies and subduing them (Joshua 14:11; 15:1; Judges 1:1,2) opening the way for total subjugation under David; who, in allusion to this prediction, praises God, and says:
“Thou hast given me the necks of mine enemies, that I might destroy them that hate me,” (Psalm 18:40).
Looking at verse 9 – where we read
9 Judah is a lion’s whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?
At the different stages of its strength, this tribe is compared both to a lion’s whelp, to a full grown lion, and to a nursing lioness which is the fiercest expression of all.
Because of this the lion was the standard of Judah (Numbers 2:3, Ezekiel 1:10) Jerusalem, called, the city of David, was also called Ariel, which means, “the lion of God,” (Isaiah 29:1) and this makes great sense as Yeshua, the tribes most important descendant, is referred to as “the Lion of the tribe of Judah,” in Revelation 5:5.
Then looking at verse 10, we see Israel established the duration of the power of this tribe, saying
10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.
A “sceptre” is an emblem of dominion’ (According to Esra 8:4 and Isaiah 14:5) speaks to the civil government of the Nation which would not cease or depart from Judah until the birth or coming of SHILOH, a word that best means, Apostle, which is a title Yeshua is given in Hebrew 3:1,
The Nation would be the native expounder of the law, a teacher and scribe, which speaks to the Tribes ecclesiastical polity which too would not cease, until Shiloh came and gathered His own body of believers!
Listen – this ecclesiastical polity ceased with the destruction of their city and temple by the Romans, A. D. 70 at which time the Gospel had been preached through the known world (According to Acts 2:8 and Romans 10:18) by the apostles, ‘his witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost parts of the earth,’ and this prophesy was fulfilled. (verse 11)
11 Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass’s colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes:
In ancient times and according to (Judges 5:10 and Numbers 22:22) to ride upon white asses or ass-colts was the privilege of persons of high rank, princes, judges, and prophets.
And as the children of Israel were symbolized by the vine, (Psalm 80:8; Ho 10:1) and the men of Judah by “a (choice) vine of Sorek,’ in the beautiful allegory of Isaiah (Isaiah 5:1-7 which was adopted by Jeremiah, 2:21) and then also by Yeshua Himself in (Matthew 21:33) who also personified himself as the true vine (In John 15:1) we have a pretty good fulfillment of these words in Him.
Zechariah also predicted the riding in of the Messiah on the foal of an ass (9:9) and in and through all of this Israel’s words are fulfilled.
Remember that this speaks of the Last days stance of each tribe. We’ll what Israel says at the end or rest of verse 11
“he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes:”
Is fantastic imagery of what would happen when He returned with judgment on those who rejected him as Revelation depicts the stomping of grapes with the end of that age and those people.
And a cross reference with wine and milk is readily found in Isaiah 55:1 where we read
“Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.”
We could talk for quite a while on the name Shiloh but know it best means sent. In the end, the majority of this prophecy concerning Judah speaks to
1. The warlike character and conquests of this tribe;
2. The cessation of their civil and religious polity at the first coming of Shiloh;
3. His meek and lowly inauguration at that time, as spiritual King of the Jews, riding on an ass like the ancient judges and prophets;
4. His second coming as a warrior to trample on all his foes; and,
5. To save and instruct his faithful people.”
As an aside, there are some Jewish scholars that have tried to make an issue out of the meaning of septre here and translate the meaning to be a staff, which they say means persecution, and they then say:
The meaning of this is that the Jews will suffer persecution until the Messiah comes and therefore, because they still suffer persecution the Messiah has obviously not come.
But by consulting some of the older most renown Hebrews scholars this view is proven a modern fabrication. (verse 130
13 Zebulun shall dwell at the haven of the sea; and he shall be for an haven of ships; and his border shall be unto Zidon.
Zebulun’s lot or portion in the division of the Promised Land extended from the Mediterranean Sea on the west, to the lake of Gennesareth on the east and Zebulon were believed to have become fishers and water people.
14 Issachar is a strong ass couching down between two burdens:
15 And he saw that rest was good, and the land that it was pleasant; and bowed his shoulder to bear, and became a servant unto tribute.
The imagery is real here as the people of Issachar are described as being placed between the burden of agriculture and taxes.
There is some biblical references to those from Zebulon being strong but we will get to that later.
16 Dan shall judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel.
17 Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that biteth the horse heels, so that his rider shall fall backward.
Dan, whose name means, “judgment,” was the eldest of Jacob’s sons through Bilhah, Rachel’s maid and here Israel makes him and equal brother with those of his legal wives, Leah and Rachel.
Some scholars tie the life of Samson (who was a Danite) to this description but because Israel assigned his words to the last days I think those of the tribe of Dan were some of the warriors who tried to overtake the Roman Empire.
Then, unexpectedly, we read Israel say at verse 18
18. For thy salvation have I waited, O Lord!
Now, there are numerous interpretations of why Israel exclaimed or wrote these words here. Jewish scholars like to suggest that Israel saw the power of Dan through Samson and spoke of this.
I tend to believe that in the spirit of Prophecy, Israel was moved to rejoice over the Messiah who would redeem the Nation from sin once and for all.
You choose. (Verse 19)
19. Gad, an army shall attack him,
And he shall attack in return.
This one is a debated one but I just see it fulfilled at the end of that world of the Nation under the Law.
20. From Asher his bread shall be fat,
And he shall produce royal dainties.
Asher’s name names blessed or happy and this seems to speak of his lot at the end. In Deuteronomy 33:24 Moses will later write of Asher,
“Let Asher be blessed with children, let him be acceptable to his brethren, and let him dip his foot in oil,” perhaps more of the tribe of Asher were spared in the last day or even along the way to the last days and this is the meaning.
21. Naphtali is a spreading oak, 21 Naphtali is a hind let loose: he giveth goodly words.
From his four sons Jahzeel, Guni, Jezer, and Shillem, which he took down into Egypt, Naphtali came out of Egypt fruitful in people type and in their dedication to YAHAVHA.
Moses says that his tribe will be satisfied with favor and full of blessings. Interestingly, Joseph is given as many words as Judah in terms of blessings, as we now read from verse 22-26
22 Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall:
23 The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him:
24 But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:)
25 Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb:
26 The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren.
So, Joseph gets a lot of press from Dad on His blessing.
Let’s work through the verses quickly
22 Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall:
Remember, Joseph had two sons – Ephraim and Mannasseh that would represent the House of Joseph and so right off the bat his number of offspring would be large – really large or fruitful.
The fact that they are planted by a well indicates a long history of sustenance (and therefore growth) and the line about him beings a “fruiful bow whose branches run over the wall” speak of daughters that would shoot over the walls of Egypt that once supported them.
The House of Joseph, expressed through the tribes of Ephraim and Manassah are thought to be mixed with some of Samaria, Perian and other groups.
23 The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him:
This is believed to represent shepherd tribes, perhaps even his own brothers, who made his life hell and took shots at him to kill him, and the line
24 But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:)
Seems to mean the more that he was oppressed the stronger he grew by the hand of the God of Jacob his father.
And the added line, “from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel” seems to speak of the Rock or what Moses refers to as, “the Shepherd stone of Israel,” who we know is the promised Messiah to come.
25 Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb:
Again, Jacob speaks to His God and calls him , El Shaddai – the all sufficient God we discussed last week.
25 Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb:
All of this speaks to offspring, which is what they were all about and the offspring of Joseph, through Ephraim and Manasseh, amounted in the first census found in Numbers 1 to 75,900 men more than any other.
, which exceeded the sum of any one tribe; Judah, the greatest of the others, amounting to no more than 74,600. Indeed, Ephraim and Manasseh had multiplied so greatly in the days of Joshua, that a common lot was not sufficient for them. See their complaint, Jos 17:14.
26 The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren.
The bottom line – Joseph’s tribe would be greatly blessed.
27. Benjamin is a ravenous wolf: In the morning he shall devour the prey, And in the evening he shall divide the spoil.
And in this last tribe Benjamin is described as a ravenous wolf and later we would see that the Tribe of Benjamin would war with the other tribes where they killed more men than they numbered as a tribe.
Perhaps they played a rude hand in the last days of the Nation at the destruction.
Interestingly, one scholar writes
“Judah went up from the prey;” “Benjamin devoured the prey.”
Let’s wrap the chapter up by reading from verse 28-33:
Genesis 49:28 All these are the twelve tribes of Israel: and this is it that their father spake unto them, and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed them.
29 And he charged them, and said unto them, “I am to be gathered unto my people: bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,
30 In the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a buryingplace.
We remember Abraham making this purchase of property there from Ephron the Hittite and then being buried there with Sarah wife. Jacob/Israel sought the same.
31 There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife; and there I buried Leah.”
“I Jacob personally buried Leah.”
32 The purchase of the field and of the cave that is therein was from the children of Heth.
33 And when Jacob had made an end of commanding his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded up the ghost, and was gathered unto his people.
So let’s wrap today up by reading chapter 50 which we will then cover verse by verse next week finishing the Book of Genesis, which took us only 80 weeks or a year and half!!
We are flying!
Genesis 50:1 And Joseph fell upon his father’s face, and wept upon him, and kissed him.
2 And Joseph commanded his servants the physicians to embalm his father: and the physicians embalmed Israel.
3 And forty days were fulfilled for him; for so are fulfilled the days of those which are embalmed: and the Egyptians mourned for him threescore and ten days.
4 And when the days of his mourning were past, Joseph spake unto the house of Pharaoh, saying, If now I have found grace in your eyes, speak, I pray you, in the ears of Pharaoh, saying,
5 My father made me swear, saying, Lo, I die: in my grave which I have digged for me in the land of Canaan, there shalt thou bury me. Now therefore let me go up, I pray thee, and bury my father, and I will come again.
6 And Pharaoh said, Go up, and bury thy father, according as he made thee swear.
7 And Joseph went up to bury his father: and with him went up all the servants of Pharaoh, the elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Egypt,
8 And all the house of Joseph, and his brethren, and his father’s house: only their little ones, and their flocks, and their herds, they left in the land of Goshen.
9 And there went up with him both chariots and horsemen: and it was a very great company.
10 And they came to the threshingfloor of Atad, which is beyond Jordan, and there they mourned with a great and very sore lamentation: and he made a mourning for his father seven days.
11 And when the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning in the floor of Atad, they said, This is a grievous mourning to the Egyptians: wherefore the name of it was called Abelmizraim, which is beyond Jordan.
13 For his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field for a possession of a buryingplace of Ephron the Hittite, before Mamre.
14 And Joseph returned into Egypt, he, and his brethren, and all that went up with him to bury his father, after he had buried his father.
15 And when Joseph’s brethren saw that their father was dead, they said, Joseph will peradventure hate us, and will certainly requite us all the evil which we did unto him.
16 And they sent a messenger unto Joseph, saying, Thy father did command before he died, saying,
17 So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him.
18 And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we be thy servants.
19 And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God?
20 But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.
21 Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.
22 And Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he, and his father’s house: and Joseph lived an hundred and ten years.
23 And Joseph saw Ephraim’s children of the third generation: the children also of Machir the son of Manasseh were brought up upon Joseph’s knees.
24 And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die: and God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land unto the land which he sware to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
25 And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence.
26 So Joseph died, being an hundred and ten years old: and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.
