The Doctrine of the Trinity

Last week we talked about the manipulation of three key passages of scripture (especially in the King James) where text was changed to support the man-made doctrine of the Trinity. Those passages are 1st John 5:6-7, Matthew 28:18, and last week we exposed 1st Timothy 3:16. Most know the facts about 1st John 5:7, which says in the King James:

1st John 5:7: “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.” But that in other versions reads merely: 1st John 5:7 “And the Spirit is the witness, because the Spirit is the truth.” This passage has been proven to be forged in support of the man-made doctrine of the Trinity. Then last week we saw that 1st Timothy 3:6 in the King James was altered to make it seem like the Trinitarian teaching of God the Son was scripturally upheld. This passage has been proven to be forged.

The Great Commission Passage

Some have wondered how the Great Commission passage in Matthew 28:18 was messed with. I mean, this is a most frequently cited passage in all of scripture by Christians today and is used as support for missional work and as support for the Trinity. Now listen very carefully to the passage as Yeshua says to his disciples in Matthew 28:18-19:

"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and disciple all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you."

Note that Jesus first tells them that ALL AUTHORITY was given to Him. All. This is one reason that I am certain that in Him we will all forevermore see the Lord God Almighty sitting on the One Throne having rule over heaven and earth and the One God will be seen in the glorified resurrected body of Christ. But back to the point, here he tells his disciples that he has been given all authority. And then he says, “Go YOU, THEREFORE, and teach all tribes, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit (three identities) teaching them to observe everything I (singular) have commanded you."

Baptism in the Name of Jesus

Trinitarians claim that Matthew 28:19 is identifying the three persons of their Triune singular God. This claim is often made by making a further claim that the word "name" in the singular means that we are to understand these three are the one Triune God who has one name, right? So, what is that one name? Ask yourselves, what is that one name that Jesus tells them to baptize in? In the Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit? Trinitarians say that one name is God, whom the three persons together make. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, together, co-equal, co eternal, making that one name – YHWH.

But ask yourselves, what ONE name do the apostles go out and baptize with? On the day of Pentecost Peter stands and says to 3000 plus Jews: Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. In Acts 8:16 we read (For as yet the Holy Spirit was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) In Acts 10:48 we read: "And he (Peter) commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days." And in Acts 19:5 we read? "When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Yeshua."

So back to the Great Commission passage where Yeshua tells his disciples that all authority was given to him in heaven and in earth but for them to “baptize in the Name “of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” but then ask yourself why ALL references to baptizing people in the book of Acts have them baptizing in ONLY one name, Yeshua the Lord, and NEVER in “the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit!” Test this – don’t trust me! Prove.

The Interpretation of Matthew 28:19

But doesn’t that strike you as odd? And isn't it equally ODD and Sad that most Christian Churches take what is said here in the Great Commission, this one reference to Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and baptize people this way rather than in the only name ANY of the apostles ever used when they baptized? Yeshua? The Scriptural facts show us that Trinitarians have imagined or imputed their man-made doctrine into the text. And they do what they have always done – they read their doctrine into the text! They count, "one, two, three," then they tell themselves that Matthew 28:19 is referring to the man-made doctrine of the Trinity. They must then also suppose that this verse does not simply mean, "God (the Father), God's Son Jesus of Nazareth, and God's Holy Spirit." Instead, through a fantastic feat of cognitive dissonance they imagine that these three compose the one God, and by an act of his own will, decide to label all three as the one God instead of simply recognizing that the one God is one of the aforementioned three, namely, the Father!

Trinitarians must also assume, prior to interpreting this verse, that the Son is a separate second person of the one created God and then also that the Holy Spirit is a separate third person of the same! All of these ridiculous twists are erased by Paul when he repeatedly introduces God as the Father, the One God, and Jesus as the One Lord. Simple as that. Non-Trinitarians like myself certainly believe that a relational unity exists between the Father, Son and Holy Spirit – to me the relation is the One God – the Father, was in His Son and is the Holy Spirit, so there is nothing unusual about mentioning these three. The issue is the nature of that unity and whether or not these three constitute one Triune God, if the three are co-equal, co-eternal persons, and if they three alone make up the One God Being. No way.

The Oddity of Jesus' Declaration of Authority

But besides all of this, there is something far more unsettling in this particular passage. Here Jesus has just declared "all authority has been given to 'ME.'" But he then goes on to say, "Go, therefore and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and Son and Holy Spirit." One would expect him to say "… all authority has been given to me. Go, therefore, and baptize in my name," which is frankly supported by what they actually did, right?! Add in the fact that Jesus then adds: "teaching them to observe all the things I commanded you…" And we have an inkling that yet another scriptural crime has been committed.

The possession is odd as Jesus starts off by saying, “all authority was given to him.” Then he veers off and speaks of baptizing in three distinct names (which remember, the apostles never follow through on) and then he returns to the singular possession and speaks of “all that he has commanded them to observe." So in the face of all of this I suggest this ”on the nose text” of Father, Son and Holy Spirit has been messed with. I cannot prove it by external evidences, but like any crime scene, the circumstantial evidence of yet another manipulation to support the man-made teaching of the Trinity is there.

Impact on Faith and Understanding

So what have these things, along with the perpetuation of the Man-Made doctrine amounted to in the faith? As mentioned, most people would not believe their water baptism valid unless it was in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. That’s one. And then it has led to a complete discombobulation of the make-up of God in the minds of most people. Few can articulate who is who and what is what while admitting that they embrace the Trinity. And this is a travesty as Jesus himself said: John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. But additionally, the repeated mantra of Trinity has worked its way into the songs millions of Christians have sung over the years – all in adoration of a chimera God made up by men.

All Creatures of our God and King (using the "Let all things their Creator bless" verse) Let all things their Creator bless, and worship him in humbleness, O praise him, alleluia! Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son, and praise the Spirit, three in one, O praise him, O praise.

Understanding the Nature of God

Hymns and Their Significance

Him, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia! Come Holy Ghost Creator Come (esp the 2nd-last verse) Through thee may we the Father know, Through thee the eternal Son, And thee, the Spirit of them both, Thrice-blessed Three in One. All glory to the Father be, With his coequal Son; The same to thee, great Paraclete, While endless ages run.

Firmly I Believe and Truly Adoration aye be given, With and through the angelic host, To the God of earth and Heaven, Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Hail Co-essential Three Hail, co-essential Three, In mystic Unity! Father, Son, and Spirit, hail! God by Heaven and earth adored, God incomprehensible; One supreme, almighty Lord, One supreme, almighty Lord.

Holy God we Praise Thy Name Holy Father, Holy Son, Holy Spirit, Three we name Thee; While in essence only One, Undivided God we claim Thee; And adoring bend the knee, While we own the mystery.

Holy, Holy, Holy

Holy, Holy, Holy (4th verse. From Revelation chapter four). Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty, All thy works shall praise thy name in earth and sky and sea. Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty, God in three Persons, blessed Trinity.

Trinity in Scripture

I Bind unto Myself Today (First verse) I bind unto myself today the strong name of the Trinity by invocation of the same, the Three in One and One in Three.

So, what is the true nature of God? He is the Father of Lights, invisible, spirit, a consuming fire, love. His Logos became flesh in the Man Jesus of Nazareth, who is His only begotten or human son. And with God in Him that man overcame sin, death and was utterly deified, assuming for a time the right hand of his Father. And this God sends His very spirit (the Holy Spirit) which bring us to that Son by faith, who is our Lord and King. And since His ascension and return, that resurrected being, bearing the fullness of God in total, sits on the one throne as the Lord GOD almighty.

Hymn Texts for Reflection

I would like to offer you some “new hymn texts” to consider, one whose words are not manipulated. They are lyrics taken from the words of Paul in 1st Corinthians 8:6 which go like this: “But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.” Or perhaps another chant with lyrics from Paul: (Ephesians 4:6) “One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.” Or perhaps some metal vibe for you modernists, with lyrics also from Paul (Shawn music) Ephesians 4:5-6 One Lord, one faith . . . One God and Father of all, (repeat) who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

Sing whatever tune floats your boat, or whatever verses, but sing the truth. Sing the Word and not the myths of Man.
