The End of the Year Show

A Year of Faith, Transformation, and New Beginnings

As we wrap up 2006, broadcasting live from Salt Lake City, Utah, the heart of Mormonism, I’m Shawn McCraney, your grateful host of “Heart of the Matter.” This year has been a journey of exploration and discussion, delving into topics like grace, the Bible, and the nature of God. We’ve questioned, debated, and sought truth, always returning to the central question: “What does Jesus mean to you now?”

Reflecting on the past year, I recall our first show where we discussed the imperative Jesus gave to Nicodemus: “You must be born again.” Forty-three weeks have passed, and I ask you again, have you experienced this new birth? It’s not about striving or maintaining a condition; it’s an event granted by God, transforming your heart and spirit.

Throughout the year, we’ve met many who have embraced this transformation, from all walks of life. Whether you’re dressed in Prada or rags, the new birth is undeniable, and “Christmas” becomes a daily celebration. It’s not about your righteousness but His.

We’ve also addressed the challenges faced by those who feel broken by religious constructs, particularly within the LDS Church. Our ministry aims to reach out to those who feel they don’t measure up, offering a message of hope and renewal through Jesus Christ.

As we move into 2007, I encourage you to let go of whatever holds you back. Trust God fully, and He will guide you. Whether you’re seeking truth, change, or certainty, know that Jesus is the friend who will never let you down. As we open the phone lines tonight, let’s continue this journey together, exploring faith and seeking understanding. Here’s to a new year of discovery and growth in our relationship with God.

Heart Of The Matter

Heart Of The Matter

Established in 2006, Heart of the Matter is a live call-in show hosted by Shawn McCraney. It began by deconstructing Mormonism through a biblical lens and has since evolved into a broader exploration of personal faith, challenging the systems and doctrines of institutional religion. With thought-provoking topics and open dialogue, HOTM encourages viewers to prioritize their relationship with God over traditions or dogma. Episodes feature Q&A sessions, theological discussions, and deep dives into relevant spiritual issues.
