CHRISTIANARCHYTODAY
Show 13 – No More Satan
January 23rd, 2018
“If you think you understand Christianity you are probably wrong. Alright welcome back to the show that proclaims: If you think you know Christianity you are probably wrong. Thus far we have said that the Bible proves that
- Jesus has returned as promised.
- All people are resurrected the moment they die and enter into their eternal state.
Where else are most people wrong about this sacred beautiful faith? I know, because I used to be one of them.
Satan and Hell
We’ll the next one is gonna really blow some of you away – make some of you never tune in again – and cause some of you to get really free baby, free. What is it? Satan and hell are over.
Now, I know some of you guys out there are really gonna be bummed out over this news cause in reality you LOVE the idea of Satan. The 666, the mark of the Beast, the dark Prince, the warlord of SinMissing the mark of faith and love—no punishment, just lost growth or peace., Beelzebub, and on and on and on. Some of you musicians have made Satan a focal point of your Music: (BLABLABLABLABLA)
Filmmakers have made a fortune out of him and Christianity – well Geez, he’s the posterboy of all that is evil and wrong in the world and believers have to do everything possible to avoid his wiley wicked ways, right?
Biblical Perspective on Satan
So let’s talk about this and discover what the Bible says about him. First of all, let me admit to this fully – there was a Satan and a hell that were real and active in this world. This is a biblical fact. Secondly, and this is really important, Satan was NOT the most powerful dark force in the universe. Remember, he was created by God as a good angel and apparently fell from grace due to pride.
Eternal Darkness
Now think about this – with Satan once being good SOMETHING tempted him to go bad – to go south so to speak, right? That is the eternal darkness – which is the source of all things opposite God. It continues today – obviously (just as God continues today) but the puppet of darkness (Satan – who was just a tool) is done and over with. I mention this because looking around us we can still see people who love the dark more than the light, who are drawn to evil – they are merely tapping into the principles of the eternal dark. But Satan, the tool of the Dark, is over.
Another important point. In the Garden of Eden, we all can read how Eve made the selfish decision to go against God on her own! Have you ever thought of that? She decided to make a choice – as did Adam – before the Fall of Man, even before EATING the forbidden fruit!
How? Because within all human beings is a capacity to do evil, to tap into the dark, and Satan is not necessary for us to put it into action. Okay, so what is up with the Biblical Satan?
Being a fallen angel, he became to the Jews, the accuser and an opponent of God and Man. His name means, opponent and if it is preceded by the article ha (as in the Satan as it is in Job) his name means the accuser. Of course, we know that he was also a tempter, and seducer, and a roaring lion walking about seeking who he could destroy.
Now, hang with me on this point. In order for Satan to effectively accuse, he has to have something to accuse people of. Therefore, while he was a formidable opponent of Adam and Eve and others, there wasn’t too much he could accuse them of – up until Moses bringing the Law. Once the Law was given, then Satan was given a huge opportunity to accuse the brethren of sin, because as Paul said: “By the LAW is the knowledge of sin!”
What this means is it takes a LAW to be in place for a person to be a Lawbreaker (or sinner). If there is no Law, there is no sin or crime or lawbreaking. Pretend there is a school in your town and it has been there for 100 years. A road runs along the front of the school but nobody has ever posted a speed limit there. You could drive down that street at 100 miles an hour without
The Role of the Law and Sin
Getting a ticket, because there has never been a posted speed limit in relation to it.
Suppose it's Monday and you tore by the school at 95 mph. Then on Monday night the city council imposed a speed limit of 25 mph and posted a sign. On Tuesday, if you drove through at ANY speed above 25 MPH you would be guilty of breaking the law. Of sin. And the Law would be the thing that convicted you. This would open up to you having an accuser – the cop who clocked you breaking the law – and you would be subject to punishment. So it is with the Satan, the accuser. By the presence of the Law (Paul says) is the presence of sin.
But do you know what else Paul said? He said,
The Law and the Cross of Christ
That the Law was nailed to the cross of Christ! He said that believers in Christ are DEAD to the Laws posted and live by the laws written on their hearts. (LISTEN)
When Christ overcame the Law and the Prophets, He did something amazing few think about. He stripped Satan of part of his abilities – to accuse – because believers are dead to the law, and without the Law there is NO sin. But there is even more we have to admit to that is in scripture – and this is the tangible reason we can say that Satan is done.
Jesus' Victory Over Satan
In John chapter 12:31 Jesus said, while walking on earth as a man:
“Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.”
Because He said this then does not mean it immediately happened when He said it but what He meant is “everything is in line for this to be.”
We know this because after Jesus ascended into heaven the apostles still warned of Satan’s wiles. But the setting was all in place. And this is it in summary:
Satan had reign over the world because he got Adam and Eve to fall. Jesus came and won all of that back, and had the total victory over sin and deathSeparation from God—now overcome. Physical death remains, but it no longer separates us from life with God. – two areas Satan reigned over. Did Jesus have the total victory? He did.
And next week we will prove through scripture, and in the context of all we have said, that Satan and hell – are over. And then what that means to us.
