Understanding the Role of the Bible

1-3 Spots

I love the Bible. It is the living Word of God. But in terms of material application to doing church, it's all complete. Done. To take it and use it as a manual on how to “do church” with deacons and discipline and doctrine is the product of Man. The Bible is not a manual – it’s a map, spiritually understood and discerned by the individual.

Ask yourself – truly – have the gates of hell prevailed against Christianity over the course of the last 2000 years? I think we would all have to admit that it has. Roman Catholicism dropped the ball. And the Protestant reformation just made ten thousand playing fields. But in Judea, under apostolic control, the gates of hell did not prevail against the church Jesus established, and He (as promised) came back and took his bride or church before it could. Since then we are living in an entirely different age – the age of the New Covenant in His eternal kingdom – and we will continue to live and thrive in this Kingdom here – and there – forevermore.

“If you think you understand Christianity you are probably wrong.”
INTRODUCTION FOR STEVE

Hey brother Steve, created in God’s image – show us some of the talent He’s given you!

STEVE PLAYS

So welcome to Christianarchytoday – where we unabashedly proclaim.

If you think you understand Christianity, you are probably wrong. Over the last month we have talked about the misinformation about what some people have labeled Christian music, and then we talked about how some people like to call the United States a Christian nation, then we talked about the Bible and then we talked last week about the idea of Sola Spiritus…

Subjective Faith vs. Objective Faith

…which is the concept that all believers are led of the Spirit and that God has written His laws today upon our hearts; that arguments over chapter and verse are missing the point, and that we ought to allow all people who claim Jesus as Lord to follow Him in the way they believe is best.

This led us last week to end the show with the following – that the faith today is totally and completely subjective. How could this be – especially in a world where every Pastor, Reverend, priest, and Bishop is claiming otherwise by saying that the faith is objectively known and understood and all that type of thing.

This brings us to a very very important point that needs to be understood. Are you ready?

Let’s go to the white board to help facilitate comprehension.

An Objective Christian Faith The Subjective Christian Life The Bible was written to us in our day The Bible is a history of what was done It has application to Christ's Church/Bride It has spiritual application through spiritual Principles Because He is coming back to get us. He has already come back and taken his church Therefore the faith is objectively practiced Therefore, we have entered into the total age of the New Covenant Set up by Jesus, promoted by apostles What Jesus set up and what his apostles did was for Judea and that age and time. According to this approach… According to this approach… The NT structure/governance must remain in place…

Elders/Deacons/Apostles/Spiritual Gifts/Miracles Discipline / Church-planting / etc. etc. Material must continue The NT Structure/Government is over.

No more playing church in any way. His laws are written on our hearts All that could be shaken has been shaken God has had the complete victory by His Son All waiting on the end which will occur at His coming No more waiting on the end No more looking for His coming. Therefore, we better be ready. We must be ready to live and love and face our maker individually.

We are going to build upon this model from here on out because it is the difference between religion and playing church and having a genuine relationship directly with God through Christ without having to play church.
