New Cosmology: Heart Of The Matter Radicalized with Shawn McCraney

New Cosmology

Heart Of The Matter Avatar
Summary

Shawn McCraney hosts a discussion on New Cosmology, highlighting an upcoming eschatology conference in Salt Lake City, which favors authentic explorations of fulfilled eschatology over traditional theological degrees, and encourages open dialogue among differing views on the subject. Collaborating with Matt Bywater, Shawn also addresses the concept of "Trauma Drama," focusing on the personal growth and maturity of individuals leaving groups like LDS and Scientology behind, and seeks to facilitate peaceful transitions away from past religious experiences.

Shawn presents an interpretation of Genesis 1 and 2 as God re-creating the earth and heavens from chaotic, dark matter, rather than the creation of the entire universe from nothing, challenging traditional views with a focus on the biblical narrative. Additionally, Shawn suggests that while God's characteristics remain consistent, His actions and decisions can change based on His selfless and merciful love, which mirrors the adaptive nature of a compassionate parent.

Shawn's teaching emphasizes the presence and role of the Holy Spirit in both the Old and New Testaments, illustrating that God interacted with individuals through His Spirit before Jesus overcame sin and death. Through scriptural examples, like the filling of Joshua and the presence of the Spirit in John the Baptist and others, Shawn argues against the traditional belief that the Holy Spirit could not dwell within people until the events of Pentecost.

Shawn explains that prior to Christ's incarnation, the Holy Spirit related to human beings in a particular way, but after Christ's death and resurrection, the Holy Spirit evolved into 'the Spirit of Christ,' suggesting a change from its original form. This transformation implies that the Holy Spirit, traditionally viewed as unchanging within the Trinity, adapted through Christ's incarnation and victory, challenging standard Trinitarian perspectives.

The teaching by Shawn highlights the arrival of the "Holy Spirit 2.0" during Pentecost, signifying the inclusion of the Spirit of Christ in believers, as explained in Romans 8. This transformation allows believers to walk not after the flesh but according to the Spirit, alongside the assurance of being children and heirs of God, with the Spirit of Christ guiding and witnessing within them.

The Holy Spirit, as understood before Pentecost, lacked the victorious Spirit of Christ and thus could not permanently dwell in humans, a change brought about by Christ's victory, enhancing its ability to guide humanity. Additionally, Shawn presents a new cosmology characterized by three transformative 'Big Bangs': the creation of the universe, the creation of earth and life, and the spiritual renewal through Christ, each illustrating God's unfolding interaction with the material and spiritual realms.

God created the material universe and humanity, putting His image within humans, with the journey through the First, Second, and Last Adam representing key spiritual transformations; Christ's overcoming of the material world signifies the spiritual source by which all things are renewed. He is both the origin and the guiding light of the universe, translating His presence into the tangible world while urging humanity towards unity and peace.

Live from Planet Earth, this is HOTM RADICALIZED. And I’m your host, Shawn McCraney. Let’s pray if willing – YAHAVAH, Delaney, Maggs, Viewing audience, In YESHUA’S HOLY NAME, AMEN.

Upcoming Eschatology Conference

4 NEW COSMOLOGY – Part I April 1st 2025. Get ready! Get set! On May 2-3rd 2025 we are hosting our first Great News Network Eschatology Conference right here in SLC UTAH. All are invited to take in some amazing presentations on the right view of End Times as described and defended by the Bible. Lots of qualified speakers have signed up and when I say qualified I do not mean through MDIVS and PHD’s in theology – that is all regurgitated from the same man-made towers and troughs. No, we have people who have discovered the value and truth of fulfilled eschatology on their own! Speakers will include people like Grady Risely out of Sonora Mexico, Adam Marschaalk, Shade Stone, WillyT from Scotland and sister Patty. But know this – all versions and views are welcome so if you know someone who disagrees with fulfillment, invite them to tune-in – no matter who – life is too short to remain in the dark. That’s May _ 2025. Tell all your friends who doubt fulfillment and keep preaching Jesus is coming back to destroy the world it’s JUST . . . NOT . . . SO.

Overcoming Trauma Drama

I am working closely with a PHD student, friend and researcher from the UK named Matt Bywater and he introduced me to something I suspected but he made real – Whether former LDS, Jehovah’s Witness, Scientologist – those who exit from such all share some common threads. First, there is enormous infighting among them – something Chris Shelton calls, Trauma Drama and boy is that true as everyone is in the mix to prove that their take is worth more than another, that they should be a thought leader and that these drama groups also include people who have never been LDS, JW or Scientologist like to lurk around just to be part of the infighting. Additionally, the power behind LDS, JW and SCIENTOLOGY adore this condition and love to sit back and watch it unfold. Also, there is the reality that those who rise up from Trauma Drama never, ever grow up. I meet them all the time and its like, come on. Life is more than being angry, bitter or immersed in your past life as a LDS JW etc. Our approach has been to peacefully walk from the LDS drama, discover what leads to maturity and growth and what will liberate people from what was before. And now to our Five X Five for April 2025.

Okay, let’s amble forward in this next quarters general subject – a New Cosmology. In the past our religious scholars have presented various interpretations and I think it is time we offer up something allowable by the text. Cosmology

Exploring the Biblical Narrative

Stand upon with some variations between the denoms. So, here goes – and I really want you to know that everything I am going to present will first challenge what you have probably been taught but second is fully within the realm of the biblical narrative – it’s just a different approach that should be tested as it may not hold water completely – this I have to admit. Paul’s definition of Love he said that it, “Believes, hopes all things.

Genesis 1 & 2

The first thing – Genesis 1 & 2. The second thing – Does God change? In His approaches, in His Love, in His Spirit. The third thing – Barauch Spinoza. Fourth – in the face of all of this conjecture COULD the following be possible? The late historical Daniel J. Boorstin once said, “The greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance – it is the illusion of knowledge.” Daniel J. Boorstin. I’m not sure a better quote can be found to describe the mind of Christianity today – especially when we talk about cosmology.

Now the standard view for believers is the Genesis 1-2 account assigned exhaustively. But in all probability, that account describes God creating this earth and all that is on it, and the heavens that correspond to it and us. I believe we can say this because of the following – ready? Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. From these two passages alone we see that when God created the heaven and the earth that the earth was without form, an void, that darkness was upon the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. So, we had, form, void, face of the deep, and God’s spirit moving upon “the face of the waters.”

From my brain, and having looked at the Hebrew words that form these two passages, they all seem to be describing God looking out over a scene of ruin and chaos, dark matter, and deep abysses of water, and deciding to make (bara) heaven and earth for us as bara best applies to the act of a remodel, a reconfiguration of wasted items. Now, you can go with tradition and believe that this is speaking of all things every to exist and that this moment is describing the act of God creating everything from nothing, but I would suggest that the language does not really support that traditional view.

The Creation of Heaven and Earth

This is point one – I believe that the Genesis account clearly shows that God re-created our heavens (Galaxy) and earth from dark ruined hollow matter. This creation was NOT the creation of the Universe – it was the creation of our heaven and our earth. So, keep that point in mind.

Second point: Does God change? Traditionally, that question is always answered with “No! Never.” Turning from tradition we would like to show you otherwise. But let me say this first – when we talk about God changing we only say no when we are talking about His characteristics and traits. That is how He is the same today, yesterday and forever. But in terms of his will, ways, actions, decisions, advice (READY?) He changes constantly. We can see this all through the Old Testament where He will say one thing and do another. Or promise one thing then turn from the promise later.

He is a God who is love, and since His love is selfless, insufferable, sacrificial, patient, longsuffering, kind, merciful, He, BEING LOVE seems to behave like a grand merciful parent, who gives his children chances, mercy and because He is love, He will change. Show me a parent who will never ever change and I’ll show you a merciless jerk. And God is anything but, so let’s drop the idea that God never changes.

But let’s get a little more radical. Ready? How would you explain God becoming flesh? Isn’t that clearly a change? If God is eternal spirit and became something different, God changes ontologically or in His makeup – we cannot get around this. Now, Yeshua said that God is spirit, but Trinitarians say that the man Yeshua, who exited His mother was God, so how was Yeshua God if He was in flesh? I’m not here to answer this tonight – that is for a different study. But if God does NOT change in any way, I really want to…

The Holy Spirit in the Old and New Testaments

Understand the incarnation. But we have an even better proof that God changes – and it is significant – are you ready? In the Old Testament, God would relate to human beings via His Spirit, right? His Holy Spirit. But we have all these assumptions and traditions about the Holy Spirit and say things like, “The Holy Spirit could not dwell in anyone until Christ overcame sin and death,” but that is simply not true. In Numbers 16:18 we read:

And YAHAVAH said unto Moses, Take thee Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay thine hand upon him;

And then what about Luke 1:15, where before Yeshua was even born we read Luke speaking about John the Baptist,

For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb. And it wasn’t just the babe John, but it was also his mother as we read 26 verses later,

Examples from Scripture

Luke 1:41 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. Even moving backward into the Tanakh, there are other passages that we cannot get around like,

Ezekiel 2:1-2 And he said unto me, Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I will speak unto thee. And the spirit entered into me when he spake unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard him that spake unto me. Interestingly, the Septuagint capitalizes Spirit in that passage – the King James does not. Then in Ezekiel 3:24 we read,

“Then the spirit entered into me, and set me upon my feet, and spake with me, and said unto me, Go, shut thyself within thine house.”

FYI – the King James makes spirit lower case, the Septuagint, upper case. We recall reading in Exodus 31:3,

“And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship,”

Some scholars, in order to keep their tradition intact, write this passage off as the wisdom and skill from the spirit and not The Spirit, but then, again,

Exodus 35:31 And he hath filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship;

Once again, in the King James, spirit is not capitalized to sway interpretation while the Septuagint makes the Spirit capital. Turning to Micah 3:8, we read

“But as for me, I am filled with power, by the Spirit of the LORD, and with justice and might, to declare to Jacob his transgression and to Israel his sin.”

Lending also to the idea that Micah was filled with the Holy Spirit which is best summarized in my estimation as the power of God.

Holy Spirit Before Pentecost

In addition to these verses, we also read in the Apostolic Record the following about the Apostles themselves, as Yeshua said to them, in Matthew 10:19-20, before Pentecost,

19 But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. 20 For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

This does not necessarily refer only to the time after Pentecost, but context appears to support the notion that the apostles, too, had the Holy Spirit in them as the line, “but the spirit of your father which speaks IN you” appears to mean, “from within you.”

What are we to say? How was the Holy Spirit in people in Exodus, in Joshua the Son of Nun, in Ezekiel, in John the Baptist, in his mother, and in the Apostles all BEFORE Pentecost? I mean, IF THE HOLY SPIRIT COULD BE IN PEOPLE BEFORE CHRIST why did Yeshua need to come?

Crickets

The standard arguments do NOT hold water, folks. But they do if we are willing to admit that the Holy Spirit changed. What? That is blasphemous!! Comes the cry. Stay with me. Prior to Christ’s incarnation, we might call the Holy Spirit version 1.0 as proven by the passages above.

I suggest that the Holy Spirit of God, prior to the incarnation, His victory and Pentecost, related to human beings in one fashion or way, but that after the life death and victory of Yeshua, who, remember being tempted in all points but not

The Change in the Holy Spirit Post-Incarnation

He himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted. (Hebrews 2:18) Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. (Hebrews 7:45) That, “Being made to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. (2nd Corinthians 5:21)

That He, in His incarnation added dimension (information) to the Holy Spirit of God of what it meant to be human and therefore, changed it. That’s right, the Holy Spirit of God CHANGED by virtue of Christ’s victorious incarnation! The implications of this are not only far reaching and are impossible in the face of the Trinity (with the Holy Spirit being the third person, co-equal, co-eternal, unchanging, and the same yesterday, today and forever person) but instead, the Holy Spirit of God, in one form before the incarnation, then becoming something different thereafter, proving that the spirit is changeable, and therefore does not fit the Trinitarian view of God.

The Spirit of Christ

How can I say this? Because only after the victorious incarnation, where Christ accomplished everything that no other human being could ever accomplish, the Holy Spirit became synonymously known as (what) “the Spirit of Christ.” In the famous chapter of John 14, Yeshua said to His apostles,

John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; (he is the way, the Truth and the Life) whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Then at verse 27 Yeshua adds,

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

In the Great Commission Yeshua also said,

Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the age. Amen.

Of course, we recall Yeshua saying in John 7:37-39,

In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (Now listen to this added reference given) (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Spirit was not yet given; because that Yeshua was not yet glorified.) “The Holy Spirit was not yet given” because why? Because Yeshua was not yet glorified! Simple as that, and the Holy Spirit THEN became The Spirit of Christ or Holy Spirit 2.0

Holy Spirit 2.0

Contextually speaking, and in the face of all we have considered, what fell at Pentecost was (and I mean this honorably though it sounds sarcastic), the New, updated version of the Holy Spirit, Holy Spirit 2.0, which was the Holy Spirit of God that from that day forward included the Spirit of His Son formatted by and through God becoming flesh! Listen carefully now to Paul in Romans 8 where he writes, beginning at verse 1

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be

The Spirit of Christ in Scripture

are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. Or Galatians 4:6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Or back to Romans 8 verse 10-17 where Paul adds,

Romans 8:10-17

Romans 8:10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. 12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

Showing that the words, Spirit of Christ, are not a one-off, but something new and given to those who have faith in Him, Paul writes in Philippians 1:19: Philippians 1:19 For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, And Peter also uses the term, saying in 1st Peter 1:11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, And now this all makes sense now when we read Yeshua also say in John 16:7 “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.”

The Nature of the Holy Spirit

With all of this in mind, I presently maintain the following, and am convinced that there is at least partial truth present when I say: God has always been able to dwell in human beings and the scripture proves He did. The Holy Spirit of God was able to indwell people prior to Pentecost. The Holy Spirit prior to Pentecost was not the same force as the Holy Spirit given at Pentecost as the Holy Spirit that fell at Pentecost included the very Spirit of the victorious Christ, which the Spirit did not possess prior. The Holy Spirit that fell at Pentecost was substantively different version, now able to permanently abide in Man, now able to better guide humankind, and all of this was by virtue of Christ’s victory as man over his flesh.

A Different Cosmology

Sooooo – as preface material, I maintain that The Genesis 1-2 account is not the creation of everything from nothing but the creation of our earth and our galaxy from things before. God changes all the time out of love for us and as shown in The Incarnation The Holy Spirit changing to the Spirit of Christ which was not possible before the Incarnation. And upon these notions I can now leave you with an entirely different cosmology that will not take away anything from the glory and honor of God but may help bridge elements of science and doctrine for those willing. Why? How? (take a deep breath now – this is theory but it is as good a theory as all that have come before that stand on faulty foundations) and it works like this Before God created the heavens and earth described in Genesis 1-2, I incorporate some of the work of Baruch Spinoza, a 17th-century Jewish philosopher who conceived of God as the one, infinite, self-caused substance of the universe, synonymous with nature, where everything exists within and is a part of God. Albert Einstein once said that He believed in Spinoza’s God and to be frank, this God was very pantheistic. But it is all about ages folks. So let me lay it out. PRIOR to the Genesis description, I suggest that God Himself SOMEHOW pulled Himself entirely

The Concept of Three Big Bangs

Back into a single point of light, then incarnated himself out through a Big Bang of elements forming the material universe entirely from Himself and being, for a time, Spinoza’s version of God. We might call this His first incarnation or what scientists refer to as The Big Bang. Then akin to the incarnation of His Son, who died, God allowed all of that material to also die, and then in His second incarnation or second Big Bang, God created the heavens and earth for Man whom He created in His own image, male and female created He them.

In this second Big Bang all things were made new, the heaven, the earth, the creatures and the Man, but they died too, introducing death into this world. Then we experienced the Third Big Bang, wherein The Light Shined into the Darkness, overcame all the material defects caused by Adam, then Rose from the Grave, after victoriously taking sin, death, hell and Satan away, and bringing new spiritual light and life to the world. Three big bangs leading to perhaps billions more in and through the rebirths of all who come to faith in Him and choose to emit light and not dark in their lives.

The Foundation of the New Cosmology

This is the foundation of the New Cosmology and it can all be found in our 100 page book, Three Big Bangs. (GRAPHIC HERE) These are scriptural realizations, folks, not revelations, and serve as possibilities that rightfully can stand on sound biblical exegesis. We will appeal to a few more elements of this new Cosmology in May and June. These are not beliefs that play into our salvation but may serve to round out our understanding of thing the former traditions of Genesis 1-2, God not changing, and the obvious new versions of the Holy Spirit that scripture provides. Before we wrap take a look at this comparative chart to help aid you in this new idea.
