About This Video

In this week’s episode of I Don’t Get the Bible, Delaney and Shawn dive deep into the identity of Jesus, the nature of God, and the tension between flesh and divinity. Picking up from last episode, they work through questions about the Trinity, the incarnation, and what it means for God to be “all in all.” What begins with parsing 1 Thessalonians 1:1 quickly becomes a thought-provoking conversation about Jesus as the Word made flesh, the perfect embodiment of both masculine and feminine, and whether Jesus is currently on the throne as God.

Delaney challenges traditional views of the Trinity, asking: Is Jesus still separate from the Father after his resurrection and return? Did Jesus become God after he died? Can we think of Jesus as a limited version of God—or does he fully contain God’s essence? Shawn responds with a model that affirms the completeness of Christ as God’s Word while still preserving his authentic humanity. Together they explore whether having part of God is to have all of God, and how these understandings shape the very purpose of our lives.
