The State of Hysteria in Believers

There are times – often times of a critical or heightened nature – where drastic measures are required to take charge of a situation, to wake people up and to snap them out of the state they are in. In my opinion tonight is one of those times. We have before us an accumulating mass of hysteria in the Body. Good, God fearing believers are igniting up over blood moons, end times, raptures, and second comings. Collectively we’re like a hysterical woman, or angry men who are so out of control that they cannot be reached by normal means – and so we might be forced to deliver a strong slap across the face before we can expect reason to step in and get working. This is what we are attempting to do tonight – we have been sharing what the Bible says about the second coming of Christ.

The Communication Challenge

Many are not hearing because they can’t. They are too hysterical. And so they put their fingers in their ears and say, “I don’t care, I don’t care, I don’t care! I KNOW He’s coming back.” And they are no different than ANYONE about ANYTHING else they want to believe. Facts become irrelevant. And we see what we want to see, and read what we want to read, and interpret everything according to how we have set out minds eye. So I am going to take however long it takes tonight to show that what we are doing has been going on for THOUSANDS of YEARS by THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE and the amount of wasted time and energy (and money) that has been lost because of it – time and energy and money that could have been sharing the hope in Jesus rather than fear of His return. We have a great tendency to mock Mormonism for the things in its history. Do yourself a favor and let’s consider some of our own.

Human Nature and Predictions

PRAYER – So we pray, Lord . . . that you will open eyes and hearts tonight to truth – whatever it may be. END PRAYER

Of all the items I am about to read only one of them is true. As I present these try and make mental note of how the coincidence of special dates and events seemed to play into end time fervor and prediction. Also note the number of revisions many prophecies and predictions undergo. And finally, take note that both humanist cults and Christian based groups all make predictions. Why? Because it is human nature to believe there will be an end and to run screaming that people need to get ready. The end references are the citations of where the information came from.
