Shawn teaches that as human intelligence and advancements in medicine, science, and technology increase, people might feel less need for God, but God has historically enhanced human wisdom to advance these fields and sustain His eternal Kingdom. Despite fears of godlessness, God invites humanity to discover Him through faith in Jesus, emphasizing that any perceived abandonment comes from humanity's choices, not God's absence.
God Has Never Left Us
Many people are under the impression that our world today is declining toward godlessness; that the more the human race is able to make advances in areas of medicine, science, business, agriculture and the like, the more it becomes self-congratulatory and the less need it sees for God to play any sort of role in the human race. Surely there is a fear that as the intelligence of humanity ramps up to solve societal issues human beings will more and more worship themselves as gods. Perhaps those who choose to see and trust a supreme being in the human experience will more and more be deemed unenlightened fools who are merely clinging to ancient myths once popular among unadvanced cultures.
God's Role Throughout History
Perhaps we are missing something in the way God works. Because God is love and because He completed everything necessary to reintroduce a victorious Kingdom to the world through the finished work of His only human Son nearly 2000 years ago, perhaps it is God who has ramped up the ability for human beings to meet the challenges of each age – since His work in redeeming the entire world is done? Consider what God has done with others in the past:
As the Body of Believers has expanded out around the world God has increased the wisdom and intelligence of his creations as a means to let people to make advances in science and technology so as to keep the eternal Kingdom of His Son rolling forward.
Signs and Guidance
God led the Nation through a pillar by day, a fire by night, by signs, wonders, prophets and miracles. This is a loving God to that people. In the wrapping up of the former age, God gave His church-bride the last of the Prophets, John the Baptist, then His only Human Son, Jesus of Nazareth, then twelve Apostles, and then the Holy Spirit to guide them with additional signs and wonders and miracles. These things led His Church-Bride through some extremely difficult times but they were in place so that the “gates of hell could not prevail against her.”
Where the human race may respond to the increase in intelligence over the past 500 years with arrogance and godlessness, the God of all spirits is calling to all to discover Him, and to have a relationship with Him, by and through faith in His Son.
If the above display is a reality we might assume that it is possible that believers – especially true believers – will become less and less in number, perhaps one day drying up altogether, and leaving this earth a spiritual dustbowl. But not because God has abandoned us but because someday we may choose to totally abandon Him.
