Ephesians 2:20-22 Bible Teaching

Unity and Inclusion in Ephesians

In our recent study, we delved into the profound teachings of Paul in Ephesians, focusing on the transformative message he shared with the Gentile believers of his time. Paul reminded them of their past, where they were once considered outsiders, alienated from the promises of Israel. However, through Christ, they were brought near, breaking down the barriers that once separated them from the Jewish believers.

Paul emphasized the metaphor of the Church as a building, with Jesus Christ as the chief cornerstone. This cornerstone is crucial, providing stability and direction for the entire structure. The foundation, laid by the apostles and prophets, was established long before the Gentiles were invited into the faith. This foundation was Jewish, highlighting God’s work through Israel to bring salvation to the world.

The mystery Paul revealed was that the Gentiles were now fellow heirs, part of the same body, and partakers of God’s promise in Christ. This was a radical shift, as it was previously unheard of for Jews and Gentiles to be united in such a way. Paul, a prisoner for Christ, was tasked with sharing this message, emphasizing that it was by God’s grace and power, not his own, that he was able to minister to the Gentiles.

This teaching challenges us to see the Church not as a physical building but as a spiritual temple, where believers are the living stones, housing the Holy Spirit. It reminds us of the unity and inclusivity that Christ brings, breaking down divisions and inviting all to be part of His body. As we continue to explore these themes, we are encouraged to embrace our role in this spiritual house, living by the Spirit and growing together in faith.
