Christ’s Birth and Divine Sacrifice
As we gather to celebrate the birth of Christ, we reflect on the profound significance of this event. The birth of Jesus marks the beginning of the reconciliation between God and the fallen world, a journey that culminates in His ultimate sacrifice and victory over sin through His resurrection. This season, as we exchange gifts, we are reminded of the selfless sacrifice that God made by giving His only begotten Son to the world, and the sacrifice Jesus made by giving His life for us.
The concept of sacrifice is deeply rooted in scripture, where it is not merely about the physical act of offering but about the intention and heart behind it. Throughout the Old Testament, we see that God desires sacrifices that come from a place of justice, mercy, and humility, rather than empty rituals. This theme is echoed in the teachings of the prophets, who emphasize that God values mercy and the knowledge of Him more than burnt offerings.
In my personal journey, I have sought to deepen my understanding of God by studying every passage in the Apostolic Record that uses the term “theos,” translated as God. This exploration has led me to a greater appreciation of the singular nature of God and the distinct roles of Jesus and the Holy Spirit. It has challenged my previous perceptions and encouraged me to see Jesus not as a preincarnate “God the Son,” but as God’s only human Son, who fully submitted to God’s will.
This Christmas, I invite you to join me in seeking a deeper knowledge of God and His Son, Jesus Christ. Let us celebrate not only the birth of Jesus but also the incredible sacrifices made by both the Father and the Son. May this understanding enrich our faith and inspire us to live lives of true worship, in spirit and truth.
