An Illustration of Christ Part 2

Identity and Inheritance in Christ

As we step into a new year, it’s a fitting time to reflect on the profound teachings about Jesus Christ and our relationship with Him. Last week, we explored the nature of Christ, emphasizing His unique identity as the Only Begotten Son of God, born with divine DNA, and His journey from a humble birth to His exalted state as depicted in Revelation. This week, we shift our focus to how His life and mission relate to us, His followers.

The essence of our faith is rooted in the belief that through Jesus, we are given the power to become children of God. This transformation is not merely about salvation from sin and death but involves a deeper journey towards becoming joint heirs with Christ. The scriptures suggest that this path is about partaking in the divine nature, a concept echoed by early church leaders and supported by biblical passages.

Our journey towards becoming Sons and Daughters of God is not achieved through rituals or religious ordinances but through the Spirit. The Word of God, which is Spirit and life, plays a crucial role in this transformation. As we internalize His Word, it becomes a guiding force, leading us to live by the Spirit rather than the flesh.

This process is not without challenges. Just as Jesus learned obedience through suffering, we too are called to endure and grow through trials. The path to spiritual maturity involves embracing the Word, allowing it to dwell richly in our hearts, and pressing towards the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

As we embark on this new year, let us commit to deepening our understanding of His Word, allowing it to shape us into the image of Christ. Through faith and perseverance, we can aspire to the fullness of what it means to be children of God, sharing in His glory and virtue.
