Acts 2:33-37 Bible Teaching

In our recent gathering at CAMPUS, we introduced a new practice inspired by Mary’s suggestion: before singing, we take a moment to read and explain the context of the passages. This aims to deepen our engagement with the Word set to music. We’ve been exploring Acts chapter 2, focusing on Pentecost in Jerusalem, where Peter explains Jesus’ resurrection and His role as Lord and Messiah. His words, inspired by the Holy Spirit, led listeners to ask, “What shall we do?” Peter’s response, “Repent, and be baptized,” is often misunderstood. It’s important to recognize that Peter was addressing devout Jews, for whom repentance meant changing their minds about Jesus as the Messiah. In contrast, Paul told Gentiles, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved,” highlighting that belief is the starting point for them. Baptism is an outward expression of faith, symbolizing identification with Christ and a public declaration of faith. As we witness baptisms, let us remember they signify a personal commitment to Christ and His transformative power in our lives.
