Acts 15:13-21 Bible Teaching

In a recent teaching session, we revisited the pivotal moment in early Christianity when Paul and Barnabas traveled to Jerusalem to address whether Gentile converts should be required to undergo circumcision. This debate arose as some Jewish converts insisted on this practice for salvation. The apostles and elders gathered to deliberate, with Peter emphasizing salvation through the grace of Jesus Christ, not through burdensome rituals. James then highlighted the divine plan to include Gentiles, proposing a resolution that avoided imposing unnecessary burdens, suggesting they abstain from practices associated with idolatry, fornication, and consuming blood or strangled animals. This decision marked a significant step in the church’s evolution, emphasizing faith and grace over traditional rites.
