In a recent teaching on 2nd Corinthians 5:5-11, we explored the Apostle Paul’s insights on yearning for the eternal and the role of faith in the Christian journey. Paul speaks of a longing to be “clothed upon” with immortality, a desire instilled by God, who provides believers with the “earnest of the Spirit” as a pledge of their eternal inheritance. He emphasizes walking by faith, not by sight, as a conscious choice to trust in God’s unseen promises. The teaching also highlights the importance of being “accepted” by God through actively following Christ and bearing fruits of love. Paul discusses the judgment seat of Christ, where individuals will be evaluated based on their actions, not for sin, but for the value and impact of their lives. Believers are encouraged to live by faith, labor in love, and strive to be pleasing to God, reflecting their faith and God’s promises.
