1 John 3:4-10 Bible Teaching

In a recent teaching, we explored 1st John 3:4-10, examining the relationship between sin, the law, and righteousness through faith in Christ. The passage defines sin as the transgression of the law and underscores Jesus’ mission to remove our sins by fulfilling the law through perfect obedience. This fulfillment allows believers to abide in Him by faith, overcoming sin. John highlights that those who abide in Christ do not sin, as they are born of God. This is supported by Paul’s teachings, which state that righteousness is achieved through faith in Christ, not the law. The teaching also discusses the dual nature of believers: the flesh, prone to sin, and the spirit, born of God and unable to sin. This duality is key to understanding sanctification, where believers let the Spirit reign over the flesh. Ultimately, believers are encouraged to embrace their identity as children of God, living by faith and love, which fulfills the law.
